The snow might finally be melting here in D.C., but in Alaska there’s plenty, which is good for the contestants in the annual Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race , which officially kicked off yesterday in Willow, Alaska. Seventy-one mushers and their dog teams will spend the next two weeks traversing Alaska’s wilderness, and will finish 1,150 miles later in Nome two weeks from now.
